Mount Merici Academy is fortunate to have caring, committed individuals serving in a completely voluntary capacity as directors of our Catholic school. Members exist to support the educational mission and philosophy of Mount Merici Academy. The Board has fiduciary responsibilities, implements the school’s vision through strategic planning, and supports its leadership.
The Board composition is a strong, balanced blend of skills and experience, allowing members to offer guidance in core areas important to our school. Regular meetings of the Board of Directors and standing committees are held monthly.
Dr. Helen Bell-Necevski proudly joined the MMA Board in 2013 and serves on the development committee. Dr. Bell is an optometrist with Maine Eye Care Associates in Waterville. She resides in Oakland with her husband, Zlatko Necevski, and their two daughters Mikhaila Necevski and Madison Necevski; both girls are Mount Merici alumni.
Dr. Brian Gillis
Dr. Brian Gillis proudly joined the MMA Board in 2012. Dr Gillis has served as past Chief of Surgery, current Vice Chief of Staff, and on the Board of Trustees at Inland Hospital. Brian and his wife, Ingrid, have three children Landen, Grace, and Ethan. They live happily on Snow Pond Belgrade Maine.
MMA Board Treasurer
Janet joined the Board in 2014 and serves on the Finance Committee. She is an accountant at PFBF, CPAs in Oakland. She and her husband, Bert, live in China with their son Isaac.
Sr. Angela Krippendorf, o.s.u.
Sr. Angela is a resident of the Ursuline Provincialate in Dedham, Massachusetts. She is Provincial Prioress of the Ursulines of the Northeast Province. In her role on the school’s Board of Directors, Sr. Angela is a member of the Finance Committee.
Vicki comes to the position of Principal after being MMA’s Kindergarten teacher for many years. She is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and serves on all Board committees. Vicki lives in Waterville with her husband, Mike (a past chair of the MMA Board of Directors) and their two children, Chase (currently in high school) and Sage (a senior Engineering student at UMO), MMA classes of ’11 and ’07 respectively.
Kelly joined the MMA Board in 2014 and serves on the Academic Affairs committee. She is a volunteer coach with the Novas soccer club and Central Maine United. She has her Elementary Education degree from St. Joseph’s College, and her Master’s degree in Computer Technology from Thomas College. Kelly lives in Oakland with her husband Todd and their two sons, Cole and Hunter, both graduates of MMA.
MMA Board Development Chair
Matt joined MMA in September of 2013 and serves on the Development Committee. He is an Account Executive and co-owner of Higgins & Bolduc Agency in Oakland with his wife, Danielle. They live on Snow Pond in Sidney with their son Mitchell, a current MMA student.
Suzanne Walsh joined the Board in 2013 and serves on the Academic Affairs Committee. She is the Chief Executive Officer for the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (KVCAP). She has been with the organization for over 26 years and has been instrumental in the growth and development of many of the agency’s most successful programs aimed at reducing poverty and improving the lives of economically disadvantaged children and families.
Suzanne has lived and worked in Maine for all of her life. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Relations. Suzanne and her husband Ken live in Vassalboro, and both have a strong commitment to the Central Maine area. Their two youngest children are current Mount Merici Academy students.
2nd Grade Teacher
Martha joined the Board in 2010 as the Faculty Representative. She has worked at Mount Merici Academy since 1995 and is currently the second grade teacher. Martha has also been a member of the Certification Committee since 2006. Martha lives in Waterville with her husband Jim. They have three grown children who are Mount Merici graduates, and one grandchild.
MMA Board Chair
Alan joined the Board in 2014 and currently serves as the Board Vice Chairman, and as a member of the Finance Committee. Alan is past president of the Oakland Lions Club, and also has served on the Board of the United Way of Mid-Maine. Alan is the owner of Oakland Furniture, Inc., and resides in Oakland with his wife Ammie. Alan and his family have strong, long-lasting ties to Mount Merici Academy, as his wife was a Kindergarten classroom aide for many years, and both Alan and their daughter, Kelly, attended Mount Merici Academy.
Tammy was honored to join the Board in 2015. She has worked at Kenway Corporation in Augusta for nine years in many capacities, including finance, human resources and safety compliance. Tammy is the parent of two Mount Merici alumni, Brianna, a third year nursing student at UMA, and Matt, a sophomore at Maine Maritime Academy. She is also a grandmother to 2-year-old Gage. She lives with her family on Great Pond in Belgrade.
Brian Moores joined the MMA Board in 2015 and serves on the Facilities Committee. For the past 15 years, Brian has worked for TRC in Augusta as an Electrical Engineer. Brian has spent most of his life in Maine, attending Messalonskee High School and then graduating from U-Maine with an Engineering Degree. Brian resides in Sidney with his wife Melissa and two children Mya and Julia who are current MMA students.
Stacy joined the MMA Board in 2015. Stacy has been an asset to MMA for many years, volunteering her time, working as an Ed Tech for many years, and being a devoted parent to daughters Emily (a former MMA student), and Olivia, currently a 7th grader at MMA. Stacy is the Director of Finance and Administration at United Way of Mid-Maine. Additionally, she helps her husband with their family business, Royal Construction. Stacy resides in Oakland with her husband, Eric and daughter, Olivia.
Sr. Madonna O’Hara
Sr. Madonna joined the MMA Board in 2015. She is an Ursuline Sister residing in St. Louis, MO when she is not traveling to Ursuline schools across the country, including MMA. Her ministry is to help foster the Ursuline spirit and connect with the leaders of Ursuline schools. “I love coming to Mount Merici where the spirit of Serviam is so alive,” states Sr. Madonna. She has been a teacher, principal and president in Ursuline schools, and has also been a parish minister and religious education coordinator. She has also served on leadership and formation teams for the Ursuline Sisters.
Tamiko Paquette joined the MMA Board in 2015. Mrs. Paquette is a Gifted and Talented teacher with RSU18. Prior to this, she taught 4th Grade at MMA for ten years. Mrs. Paquette loves to travel and perform random acts of kindness. She also enjoys her mission trips, the most recent of which was to Haiti. Mrs. Paquette resides in Waterville with her husband Cory, daughters, Monicah (a freshman at UMF), Lissy, (a sophomore at Waterville High School), and Yuliya, a 6th grade student in Waterville.
